How to frame in a window in a concrete wall.
Anchor this 2x4 to the concrete with screws or anchors.
First consider installation in a wall with an exterior face of foam.
Lower the window into the framed opening inserting the bottom window edge first then tipping in the top.
Once the caulk is dry install the window glass caulk around the edges of this frame and then drive in more screws to keep the window frame in place.
Cut a piece about 10 inches longer than the rough opening width.
Use wood shims and a level to make sure this piece is level.
Step 4 insulate the gap between the window frame and the rough opening by filling it with expanding spray foam insulation.
Use a water resistant variety to keep the water from flooding in.
Drill holes through the side of the window frame and into the cinder blocks with a hammer drill.
Drive concrete screws through the frame and into the cinder blocks to secure the window in place.
For a block wall installation fasten with rust resistant screws using a toe nail method through the jambs into the head and sill boards at each corner.
Measure the concrete opening and cut a 2x4 to fit across the lower sill.
Once the frame is in place seal around the frame and concrete using an exterior caulk.
Follow the same steps for the other 3 sides of the concrete opening.
The piece should be about 14 inches wide.
