So i decided to write this nice post about my super successful curtain rod hanging method and why hanging curtain rods on plaster walls is actually awesome.
If it s dry crumbly plaster or a cinderblock wall that s preventing you from drilling holes consider hanging your curtain rod from the ceiling instead.
Start the holes slowly and carefully to prevent chipping the plaster surface.
Hold a torpedo level vertically next to the bracket to ensure you hang the bracket straight and not crooked.
As long as they re at least a few inches below the ceiling you re good to go.
Place your curtain rod mounting brackets against the wall at your marked locations.
It went super smoothly and mid way through i realized it s actually easier to hang curtain rods on plaster walls than drywall.
The trick to preventing this from happening is to correctly install the curtain hardware into the wall.
Remove the curtain rod and drill pilot holes through the plaster and into the studs at the hole marks.
In general you shouldn t increase the length of the expanded rod by more than 50 percent.
This can also cause your curtain rod to fall out and become damaged as well.
Though most curtain rods are adjustable you don t want the distance between the brackets to be so wide that the rod sags in the middle.
Consider the length of the rod when hanging the brackets.
You want to hang them as high above your window frame as you can.
Installing curtain hardware on plaster walls is a challenging project that can easily go awry.
