How to install a garage door side lock.

Attach the bolt and pin with screws. Designed for flush interior installation on garage doors. Release the tension on side mounted extension springs by lifting the door and locking it in place on each side with a pair of locking pliers. These open screw holes will hold the slide lock in place.

Fit the provided extension tube onto the nozzle on a can of spray lubricant. Can be connected to a standard locking handle. Use a lock assembly kit to mount the new lock on the inside of the door. Once installed turn the handle 90 degrees to lock the slide lock.

Tie the extension spring to the roller track then detach the cable from the bottom bracket with a pair of pliers. Spray lubricant into the openings and seams on each of the latch mechanisms at the outer sides of the door. 3 hold the slide lock up. It has pre drilled holes for installation.

Place a nail over the pin and tap the nail with a hammer until you expose part of the pin. Remove the pin that secures the inside lock handle to the lock shaft in the center of the door panel. Grab the pin with a pair of pliers to remove the pin from the shaft. This will turn the operating lever and extend the bolt into the locked position.

The overbuilt reversible garage door side lock is designed to mount flush on the interior of the garage door and be connected to a standard locking handle. To lock the door from the outside to lock the slide lock from the outside you need to install a lock handle with the spindle inserted into the square hole next to the operating lever.
