Remove old roofing if applicable.

Have a partner hold the ladder steady so you can work safely.
Replace the drywall around the edge of the hole and seal with caulk.
First head up to your attic and determine where you want to install your roof vent.
When installing roof tile vents on the front and rear sides of a roof some staggering in height and horizontal positioning should ideally take place to prevent wind tunneling.
Use a tall ladder to reach a taller overhang.
This is on its own a major job that can take days and require special tools.
Make a template using cardboard that s the width of your overhang with a hole the size of the vent cut in it.
Next position your ladder against your home and climb up to your roof.
Repair and reinforce the roof if applicable.
When this is securely in place return to the attic and screw in the plate that holds the vent to the roof.
You should have reinforced the frame of the roof earlier before.
