Starting at the 1 inch hole cut open a 14 inch square opening using the utility saw. Place the rv roof vent on the 14 inch opening and press down to seat the vent on the silicone caulking. Apply a strip of silicone approximately 1 4 inch wide along the edges of the 14 inch square opening. Most rv vent fans have some sort of roof sealant or seam tape around their edges to prevent water from leaking inside your rv or into the roofing and causing dry rot.
