When you re using fiberglass batting insulation material run it about 6 inches or so onto the crawl space floor.

The best way to insulate a crawlspace would be to do it from the ground up and consider it just part of the conditioned space as you would with any basement.
Use caulk or foam sealant to seal the joint between the top of the crawl space wall and the sill.
Place 1 5 in 3 8 cm moisture proof insulation on the exposed parts of your foundation.
With construction adhesive or mechanical fasteners secure your foam insulation boards to the inside of your foundation walls.
Cut pieces of insulation just large enough to fit along the rim joist the framing material into which all the floor joists are nailed.
Install an air and vapor barrier over the floor and tape it to the insulation.
Cut the insulation to fit the cinder block brick or whatever your foundation is made of.
