In a vented crawl space the underfloor should be insulated similar to how it is in ceilings. With kraft faced insulation the facing is generally against the subfloor. This may be done before or after the subfloor has been installed. For extra insulation repeat the process so that you have a double layer of insulation board.

This will limit the moisture that enters your crawlspace through brick or concrete cinderblocks. Jm comforttherm kraft faced and unfaced insulation are all possible products to use for this application. The best way to insulate a crawlspace would be to do it from the ground up and consider it just part of the conditioned space as you would with any basement. Use caulk or foam sealant to seal the joint between the top of the crawl space wall and the sill.

Place 1 5 in 3 8 cm moisture proof insulation on the exposed parts of your foundation. With construction adhesive or mechanical fasteners secure your foam insulation boards to the inside of your foundation walls. Cut pieces of insulation just large enough to fit along the rim joist the framing material into which all the floor joists are nailed. Install an air and vapor barrier over the floor and tape it to the insulation.

Cut the insulation to fit the cinder block brick or whatever your foundation is made of.
